Plastic couplings can very significantly replace welded joints. They are indispensable, especially for anodized profiles.
The steel core in the plastic connector significantly strengthens the connection of the profiles. These connectors are used in the construction of shelving structures, stands, etc.
Connectors with a steel core and without a core can be combined, e.g. in a shelving assembly - the upper shelf, where there is no such load, connectors with a metal core may not be needed, but cheaper plastic connectors without a core can be used.
